John L. Wolthoff is a Senior Associate at Sweeney, Reich & Bolz LLP, with his practice concentrating in the areas of Surrogate’s and Supreme Court litigation. He has been a member of the firm since he graduated from Saint John’s University School of Law in 2003. While at Saint John’s Mr. Wolthoff was the Research Editor of the Law Review.
Mr. Wolthoff has over 18 years of experience in all areas of civil litigation, from commencement of an action/proceeding through the appellate process. Mr. Wolthoff specializes in the drafting of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery responses, memoranda of law, and appellate briefs. He also has experience in trial preparation, post-trial motion practice, and entering money judgments.
Mr. Wolthoff has experience with Surrogate’s Court litigation involving discovery proceedings, fraudulent deed transfers, contested accounting proceedings, contested probate proceedings, wrongful death actions, and proceedings to surcharge fiduciaries and guardians.
Mr. Wolthoff’s Supreme Court experience concentrates in drafting litigation related documents including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, partition actions, and surplus actions.
Mr. Wolthoff is proficient in appellate court practice in the Appellate Divisions of the State of New York, from the filing of the Notice of Appeal, perfecting records and appendixes, and researching and drafting briefs.
Mr. Wolthoff is a member of the Queens County Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, and the New York Bar Association.
